Introduction To PVC Foam Board

PVC foam board (Polyvinyl chloride foam board) is a fire-resistant material. It is primarily used for lightweight interior partitions, sound insulation in audiovisual spaces, fire-resistant applications, packaging for HVAC and refrigeration systems, roof insulation (as a substitute for PU materials), and internal components for office furniture. It features properties such as moisture resistance, weatherability, impact resistance, thermal insulation, resistance to acid and alkali corrosion, and flame retardancy.

 

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a polymer material produced through the addition polymerization of vinyl chloride. It is the third most widely produced synthetic plastic polymer, following polyethylene and polypropylene.

 

PVC exists in two basic forms: rigid and flexible. Rigid PVC is used for pipes, doors, and windows, as well as for bottles, non-food packaging, and items like bank or membership cards. It can also be manufactured into soft products by adding plasticizers (most commonly phthalates) to increase flexibility. In this form, it is used for flexible tubing, cable insulation, faux leather, soft signage, and inflatable products, replacing rubber in many applications.
Pure PVC is a white, brittle solid. It is insoluble in alcohol but slightly soluble in tetrahydrofuran.
