【 Current Market Status 】
Driven by both government initiatives and corporate efforts, a nationwide trend favoring "wall panels" is steadily gaining momentum. Preliminary statistics indicate that by 2006, there were over 150 domestic enterprises directly or indirectly involved in the R&D, production, and sales of wood-plastic composites (WPC). These enterprises are primarily clustered in the Pearl River Delta and Yangtze River Delta regions, with the number of companies in the east far exceeding those in the central and western regions. Among them, select eastern enterprises lead the industry in manufacturing technology, while southern enterprises hold a distinct advantage in terms of production volume and market share. Currently, the industry employs a large workforce; the annual output and sales volume of WPC products are substantial, with a total output value reaching approximately 3 billion RMB. Test samples from leading technical enterprises have already matched or surpassed advanced international standards.
Benefiting from China's industrial policies promoting a "resource-saving and environment-friendly society" and "sustainable development," wood-plastic composites have experienced rapid growth since their inception. In particular, against the backdrop of increasingly severe global greenhouse gas emissions, the promotion of a "low-carbon economy" has fully highlighted the value of wood-plastic composites.
【 Future Trends 】
As the industrialization of wood-plastic composite products accelerates, researchers in various application fields have identified existing limitations and proposed more rigorous requirements. For outdoor landscaping products, resistance to aging and color fading is required to extend service life; for interior doors, windows, and decorative components, excellent flame retardancy is expected to ensure safety; and for load-bearing structural components, superior mechanical properties and reinforcement treatments to enhance creep resistance are demanded. Meanwhile, with rising awareness of energy conservation and environmental protection, the construction industry has set stricter standards regarding the energy-saving performance of wood-plastic composites. Consequently, these products are evolving toward greater functionality and higher added value, leading to the emergence of diverse product types such as flame-retardant, reinforced, anti-aging, creep-resistant, and thermal-insulating varieties.
